This small flycatcher lives in moist forests and montane forests across Asia. The male is notable for its combination of an ash-blue head and orange chest.
The male has an ash-blue head and back, a deep orange throat and chest, and a white lower belly, with a white stripe above the front of the eye. The female is mainly brown, with a yellow-brown face and a buff eye-stripe.
It eats insects, spiders, earthworms, and berries. Both sexes build a nest with a side entrance in a tree hole and share incubation and care of the young.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
