A deer with wild populations remaining in southwestern Iran; males have antlers that do not flatten into a broad palm.
Male antlers have thick beams with fewer branches than those of European fallow deer. Their upper parts do not spread into the broad, flattened palm typical of that relative.
It lives alone or in small herds and moves with the seasons as food availability changes. Males establish territories during the July-to-October breeding season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
