This small cisticola occurs on Socotra Island. It uses low coastal scrub and places where scattered shrubs grow in grassland.
It is about 9–10 cm long. BirdForum describes it as duller than other cisticolas and smaller, browner, and more heavily streaked above than the Socotra Warbler.
The 1999–2008 breeding surveys recorded it in dwarf scrub on open coastal plains, Acacia scrub and interior shrub-steppe. On the Maalah plateau at about 650 m it also used a mosaic of Lycium woodland, grasses and woody herbs. The authors observed colony-like occurrence and patchy distribution even within mapped squares because of its specific habitat requirements.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
