Hinde’s Aethomys is a rodent with black and yellow hairs mixed into its brown back. It uses grass nests or shallow burrows in savanna and farmland.
Its rough, sparse brown back is flecked with black and yellow hairs. The flanks are paler, and the whitish-grey underside has no sharp boundary with the back.
It is mainly active by day, with activity peaks around dawn and dusk. It uses grass nests or shallow burrows and is thought to feed mostly on plant material; seeds and insects are also reported.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
