This small tanager occurs on Grenada and Saint Vincent. Male plumage differs between the islands, and taxonomic treatments vary between one species and two.
The Grenada male has buff-gold upperparts, a dark facial mask, blue-green wings and tail, and sometimes a violet wash below. The St Vincent form has a more reddish-brown crown. Females are duller and greener than males.
It uses lowland evergreen forest, forest edges, and secondary growth, and eats a varied diet that includes fruit. The account describes it as sedentary and also lists thickets and cultivation among habitats.
