A Himalayan rosefinch that breeds at high elevations and moves lower in winter.
The male is dark pink with pale eyebrows and two rows of white wing spots. The female is brown with a pale eyebrow.
It breeds in alpine meadows, scrub and at conifer-forest edges, then winters in scrub and forest at lower elevations.
