Sclerurus obscurior searches leaf litter on the forest floor. Peru Aves calls it the South American Leaftosser and notes that Tawny-throated Leaftosser was used formerly.
It is dark brown overall, with a tawny throat and upper breast. The tail is broad and black, and the bill is relatively long and dusky gray.
On the ground in Amazonian terra firme forest, it picks up and turns dead leaves while searching for prey.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
