Phacellodomus inornatus is a thornbird of the Llanos region from northeastern Colombia into Venezuela. The recent Clements treatment recognizes it as distinct from the Rufous-fronted Thornbird.
The museum catalogue describes earthy brown upperparts, a rufous forehead, dirty-white underparts, and brown flanks and undertail coverts.
A 1950 report from Caicara says birds identified as the former subspecies Phacellodomus rufifrons inornatus were common at wet-woodland edges and added twigs to large nests in early January.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
