It is a tiny-bodied, dark bird with narrow, pointed wings. Its fast flight above the treetops is characteristic.
It spends much of the day in flight, catching small insects and spiders. Groups roost and nest in hollows in mature evergreen trees, where they attach twig nests with saliva.
Both sexes build the twig nest with saliva. A clutch has three to seven white eggs, and the chicks hatch naked and helpless.
Both parents feed the chicks, and a third adult has also been observed feeding young in some nests.
Prey for chicks is gathered into a bolus and regurgitated at the nest; a foraging trip can collect more than 100 insects and spiders.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
