The Purple-throated Fruitcrow is a large cotinga with a black body and bluish-grey bill. Males have a purple throat patch, and the species forages for fruit in Amazonian floodplain forest canopy.
It is black with a bluish-grey bill. Males have a broad purple patch on the neck; the source does not attribute the same patch to females.
It forages for fruit in the canopy of mostly floodplain forest, in pairs or family groups. A study in two Colombian Amazonian forests observed short fruit-feeding visits and suggested it may help move seeds between habitats.
