An eastern Brazilian tyrant flycatcher found in open grassy and rocky habitats, as well as dry forest. Its range has two separated populations.
The male is glossy blue-black with a small bushy crest. The female lacks the crest and has reddish-brown throat streaks; white at the base of the primary feathers shows in flight.
It catches insects and other arthropods by sallying out from a perch and returning to it, and also gleans prey from leaves.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
