The Mangrove Rail is a rail of scattered coastal sites in Central and South America, where it uses mangroves and salty wetlands. It probes shallow mud and water with its long bill.
It is grayish brown, with faint barring on the flanks. Its long, slender bill has a pale orange tone toward the tip.
It searches for food by walking over mudflats and probing mud or shallow water. Its diet includes crustaceans, aquatic insects, and small fish.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
