This small ovenbird lives in high-elevation grasslands of southeastern Brazil. Its long, frayed tail is distinctive, and it forages among grass and shrubs.
It is about 18.5 cm long, with olive-brown upperparts, a pale eyebrow and a long, strongly graduated tail with pointed, frayed tips. A small orange-rufous patch marks the chin.
It forages in high-elevation grassland, shrubs and dense bamboo, sometimes hopping on the ground with its tail raised. Park and field studies recorded both ground foraging and gleaning from foliage.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
