The male is a small bird with vivid blue, green, and yellow plumage. It searches for fruit high in trees; the preserved account records it at nine southeastern Brazilian localities.
The male has glossy grass-green head, throat, and chest, pale blue around the eyes, and bright blue on the nape, back, and rump. The female is duller green, with blue limited to the nape collar and rump.
It searches for fruit in the crowns of tall trees. It is seen in pairs or small groups and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
