The Sooty Falcon has long, narrow wings. After breeding, it migrates across eastern Africa to Madagascar for the southern summer.
When perched, the tips of its long, narrow wings extend noticeably beyond its tail.
Small migrating birds are its main prey during breeding. Insects make up more of its diet early in the breeding season and during winter.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
