The Channel-billed Cuckoo is a large cuckoo with a massive pale, down-curved bill. It migrates to Australia from New Guinea and Indonesia and lays its eggs in other birds' nests.
Its plumage is grey, darker on the back and wings, with a long barred tail. Its massive pale bill curves downwards. Young birds have mottled buff and brown in their plumage.
It favours native figs and other fruits, but also takes seeds and insects. During breeding it lays eggs in nests of Australian Magpies, Pied Currawongs, and some crows. Its young do not evict the hosts’ eggs or chicks; they grow faster and demand more food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
