The greater Wilfred's mouse has long, soft fur, with orange on the nose, ears, and rump. A new record from Paraná, southern Brazil, includes captures in grassland and a photograph from riverine forest.
The fur is long, lax, and soft. The upperparts are brown to gray, with orange on the nose, ears, and rump; the underside is yellowish, and the tail is two-colored.
The 2026 Paraná report records two animals caught in ground-level traps in natural grassland of the Iguaçu basin, and one photographed in riverine forest. The grassland included grasses, shrubs, and small groves of trees.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
