A mammal of Andean cloud forests in Colombia and Ecuador, with long dense fur tinged with red and black. It lives in trees.
Compared with other olingos, it is smaller and has longer, denser dorsal fur ranging from tan to orange or reddish brown with black tips. Its bushy tail is proportionally shorter and indistinctly banded.
At Otonga Forest Reserve in Ecuador in July–August 2006, it fed on fruit in trees at night and leapt between tree canopies.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
