The Tumultuous Shrew was first reported from Ethiopia after a specimen was recorded in a national park. Its relationship to the similar C. similiturba still needs further study.
The Ethiopian survey described its specimen as a medium-sized Crocidura turba.
At a savanna site 1,240 m above sea level, researchers caught 1 shrew in a live trap during the dry season in 2020-3. The paper does not record its diet or daily behavior.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
