The desert hare has sandy fur and long ears and feeds on plants in steppe, desert and semi-desert habitats.
The dorsal fur is sandy yellow and may be dark-flecked; in winter it thickens and becomes grayer sandy brown. The ear tips are blackish brown, with a pale ring around each eye.
It is mainly active at dawn and dusk and is solitary outside the mating season. It eats plants, seeds, berries, roots and twigs, and rests in shallow forms rather than usually using burrows.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
