An olive-green parrot with a yellow face and blue forehead band. It searches on the ground for seeds and nests in tree hollows.
The plumage is golden olive, with a yellow facial mask, a blue forehead band, a blue band on the wing, and buttercup-yellow underparts.
It usually feeds on the ground, taking grass and low-shrub seeds; it sometimes feeds in farmland and on spilled grain. It nests in hollow tree branches, and the female incubates the eggs.
