This stocky rat has a dense coat of long, soft fur and a short tail. Specimens in the 1991 description came from mountain forests on Sulawesi, Indonesia.
It has a stocky body and a short tail. Long, soft fur covers its back; the coat is dark brown along the back and rump and grayish brown on the sides.
The paper reports specimens from both lower and upper montane forest. It gives no direct observations of the species’ field behavior.
