The wild goat lives on steep mountain slopes. In Georgia, breeding populations are limited to Tusheti and northern Khevsureti.
Adult males have long, backward-curving scimitar-shaped horns and a dark beard. In Georgia, males are described with a pale body, dark face and stripes, while adult females are brown with slimmer horns.
In Georgian observations, wild goats are often seen alone or in pairs. They eat grasses, herbs and shrubs, and may climb trees to feed on leaves.
