Finsch's Rufous Thrush lives in the lower levels of evergreen and semi-deciduous forests in West Africa, including forest near streams and swamps. It takes invertebrates from surfaces in the understory.
It has an olive-brown back, a grey crown and a light rufous belly; the outer tail feathers are white. It weighs 33–44 g.
It forages in the understory and lower canopy of evergreen, semi-deciduous and secondary forest, often near streams or swamps. It gleans invertebrates from leaves and the ground. BirdLife's 2025 discussion treats logging and forest degradation as conservation concerns.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
