The Saffron Toucanet is a small toucan with a yellow head and breast and an olive back. It eats fruit and other food in the trees of southeastern South American forests.
The head and breast are bright yellow, the back is olive, and the rump is red. Females are less brightly colored and have a shorter bill than males.
It feeds mainly on fruit in the canopy and also takes small animals. It nests in tree cavities.
During the breeding season, it takes many insects for protein.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
