The Paramo Hocicudo is an Andean member of the genus Oxymycterus. A 2025 taxonomic study favored treating it as endemic to Bolivia, while calling for further study.
In the 2025 study, specimens assigned to the nominal forms paramensis and jacentior had deep olive-buff backs lined with black hairs and pale buff to yellow-gray undersides.
Specimen labels from Cochabamba, Bolivia, record animals from grassy places, stone piles, rock walls, and rocky slopes.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
