This weaver is endemic to São Tomé Island. The sexes differ in plumage, and pairs or flocks forage in trees by searching leaves, holes, and epiphytes.
This medium-sized weaver has white wingbars. The male has olive-brown upperparts and a burnt-orange face and upper breast; the female is duller brown above and buff-white below.
It occurs in pairs and in flocks ranging from small to large wherever there are trees. Birds cling to branches and probe leaves, holes, and epiphytes for food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
