The Lufira Masked Weaver is known from the Lufira River valley in Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo. A 2010 study found nests in trees standing in water and on dry ground near the river.
Two birds in female-type plumage captured near Kiubo on 3 February 2010 had dull olive heads and backs, a dull yellow rump, and dull golden-yellow underparts. Their wings had pale yellow edges and their breasts a buff wash.
Males carried nesting material and displayed at completed nests and unfinished nest frames. At Lake Tshangalele, nests were in ambatch trees standing in water; downstream near Kiubo, nests also occurred in acacias on dry ground within 100 m of the water.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
