This small rodent was recorded on Mount Sisa in southern New Guinea. The original account knew only one specimen.
The single specimen had white fur on its belly, chin, and throat; this is the coat pattern documented by the original description.
The only specimen was trapped in lowland hill forest, about 200–300 m below the local transition to lower montane tropical evergreen forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
