This flycatcher lives in forests on Mindanao. Its chestnut upperparts and long tail stand out, and it searches for invertebrates near the ground.
It is about 20 cm long. The crown and upperparts are dark chestnut, with a rufescent wash on the wings and tail. The face and underparts are gray, the chin is white, and a dark moustachial line runs toward the side of the neck. It has long legs and a graduated tail.
It eats invertebrates near the ground and is described as elusive. Specimens in breeding condition were recorded in February, April and May, but the account says the nest and eggs are undescribed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
