This long-snouted bandicoot is known from seven specimens collected on Seram in 1920. Almost nothing has been confirmed about how it lives.
It has a slender, elongated snout with a hairless area near the tip. The back and flanks are dark brown, the underside is a little paler, and the chest bears a pale patch that varies in size. Its tail looks almost hairless.
All seven known specimens came from a single 1920 collection, and no later specimen has been confirmed. Diet and breeding have not been documented well enough to describe, and the species has not been proven extinct.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
