This spinetail is known from very few records in Roraima, at the northern end of Brazil. Its ecology is poorly documented, so the observations cannot be treated as a complete account of its behavior.
It is about 16 cm long, with rufous-brown plumage and a black throat marked with white streaks.
The ecology record summarized by BirdLife is a pair seen in August 1992. They were in dense undergrowth and vines in seasonally flooded riverine forest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
