A ground-dwelling antpitta from cloud forest in southwestern Táchira, Venezuela. It was rediscovered in 2016, but its known range is small and much of its life remains poorly documented.
It is about 17–18 cm long, with muted olive, brown, reddish, and black plumage. The crown is grayer; the lower breast and flanks are faintly barred, and a contrasting cream moustache marks the face.
It is terrestrial and feeds among leaf litter, especially on ants. The available sources do not establish its breeding or seasonal movements.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
