The Graceless Honeyeater lives on Makira Island in the Solomon Islands. It was often recorded in the island's forests, but the survey did not find it in plantations or secondary growth on the north coast.
An adult male has a pale yellow, black-streaked crown and a yellowish-white line above the eye. Its back is dull olive, while the rear body and tail are reddish brown.
In a 2018 survey, the species was recorded in forests along Makira's southern coast and in mangroves around Star Harbor. It was not recorded in north-coast plantations or secondary growth, suggesting an association with forest habitats.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
