The Ecuadorean Akodont is a small rodent of the northern Ecuadorian Andes. Its 2015 species account describes a dark chestnut back and a paler underside; a 2020 study recognized a western subspecies.
Head and body measure 74–103 mm. The back is grizzled dark chestnut, paler underneath without a sharp side line; the tail is about as long as the head and body.
It has been recorded in high-Andean environments such as subalpine forest and páramo above 3,000 m. It is not strictly nocturnal, but little is known about its breeding or behavior.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
