The Buru babirusa is a pig from Buru and the Sula Islands of Indonesia. It lives in tropical rainforest near rivers and ponds, where it eats plants and small animals.
The skin is wrinkled. In males, the upper tusks pass through the skin near the snout and curve upward.
Its strong jaws and teeth can crack nuts. It also eats leaves, roots, fruit, invertebrates and small vertebrates.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
