This weaver is found in the mountains of northeastern Tanzania. Males are mainly yellow and black, while females are olive and yellow; it feeds on insects.
The breeding male has a yellow head and underparts, with black markings from the face to the breast. Females are olive and yellow, and juveniles resemble females.
It searches for insects at forest edges and in the canopy, sometimes hanging upside down from branches while foraging. Detailed records of nesting and breeding behavior are limited.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
