Mostly white with yellow and orange in its plumage, this cockatoo is native to Indonesia’s Tanimbar Islands.
Most of its plumage is white, with some yellow and orange feathers.
The Tanimbar Corella is a cockatoo native to Indonesia's Tanimbar Islands. To observe free-ranging birds, researchers placed corn-baited feeding platforms at a forest-edge site and recorded the timing and size of visiting groups. The study ran from 2021 to 2022 and used the platforms to observe behaviour in a habitat where wild feeding activity is difficult to monitor directly.
Most visits occurred in the early morning and late afternoon. The number of birds in a visiting group changed with rainfall and the time since the platform was baited. A smaller number of individuals continued to visit regularly. The observations recorded two main daily foraging periods for Tanimbar Corellas at the study site.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
At feeding platforms on the Tanimbar Islands, Tanimbar Corella visits were most common in the early morning and late afternoon. Group size varied with rainfall and resource availability, while fewer birds visited regularly.
