The Fijian monkey-faced fruit bat has been recorded in upland cloud forest on Taveuni Island. It has bright orange eyes, and records of its ecology remain limited.
Its fur is dull olive to yellow, with soft khaki-colored fur on the head and shoulders. Its eyes are bright orange.
An adult male collected near Des Voeux Peak on Taveuni, Fiji, on 3 May 1977 was caught in a mist net on a bulldozed ridge summit with secondary scrub beside primary forest. At 05:30 on 31 May 2009, one female was caught in a sub-canopy net at 815m. Released at the capture site, she made short flights from tree to tree, then crawled into an epiphyte clump on a Palaquium tree.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
