This mountain pigeon lives on Buru. Field surveys recorded groups in forest, including 11 birds gathered in one tree.
The Buru population was reported to differ from the Seram population in the color of its underparts. This plumage difference helped inform the proposed island-level taxonomic split.
In a 1995 Buru survey, 33 birds were recorded at 750–1,250 m, with 11 in a single tree.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
