The Buffy Pipit lives in open grassland and searches the ground for insects and seeds. It occurs widely across southern Africa.
In Namibia, it is distinguished from the similar Plain-backed Pipit as slightly larger, with a lighter back. Plumage also varies subtly among regional subspecies.
It searches for insects and seeds on the ground in grassland and pasture. During the dry season it may move to areas that have received rain.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
