A wild cat recorded in Peru’s Eten wetlands. It has reddish fur with spots; in 2019, an individual was filmed crossing a path and moving into tall vegetation.
The individual photographed at Eten had an orange-flecked grey-brown forehead and a pale pink nose. Rosette-like spots marked its flanks, and a transverse band crossed its throat.
At noon on 13 October 2019, a cat crossed a path in the Eten wetlands of northern Peru and moved quickly into tall vegetation dominated by Distichlis spicata and Phragmites australis. Alert to the observers, it concealed itself among the plants and moved stealthily.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
