This white-eye lives in scattered mountain populations on Borneo. Its black eye-ring distinguishes it from other white-eyes.
It has the general form of a white-eye, but with a black eye-ring. In studied subspecies, the plumage differs in darkness and yellow tones.
It occurs in wet, stunted mossy mountain forest and scrub near the tree line. It eats fruit, nectar, and insects; during dry periods it also forages in forest canopy at lower elevations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
