This small spinetail occurs along the Araguaia River in central Brazil. Pairs search low tangles in riverside forest and scrub for food.
It is 15–16 cm long, and the sexes have the same plumage. The face is brownish gray with pale lores, the crown gray-brown, and the back, wings, and tail rufous. The throat is white and the underparts mostly pale tan.
Pairs forage in vine tangles and low undergrowth, mostly within about 2 m of the ground, gleaning small prey from leaves and branches. Its diet has not been studied in detail.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
