The current MDD gives Cuba and Jamaica as the range of this species. Appearance and cave ecology in the Jamaican management plan refer to the Jamaican subspecies P. p. parnellii.
The plan reports Jamaican individuals with fur ranging from light or dark brown to grayish brown or ochre orange, usually paler underneath. Hair tufts project beside the mouth, and the wings are long and narrow.
The Jamaican plan describes it as an obligate cave dweller that roosts in large chambers of humid caves and feeds on insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
