This small bird is endemic to Príncipe Island in São Tomé and Príncipe. It uses forest and cocoa plantations; a 2000 survey reported a yellow wash below in many individuals.
Its upperparts are grey to olive, while the underparts are yellowish white. A dark band crosses the chest, and the bill is long and deep.
On Príncipe, it uses the understorey of cocoa plantations and regenerating forest, among shrubs, lianas, and the bases of tree crowns. The 2000 account records invertebrates, berries, and seeds as food.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
