This medium-sized fruit bat was described from specimens collected on Biak and Owii islands. The paper's ecological information is mainly limited to where specimens were collected.
It is a medium-sized Dobsonia with a curved muzzle and small, narrow teeth.
Specimens used in the description were collected in a coastal garden on Biak and in secondary forest on Owii.
