This cuckoo occurs on the Tayandu and Kai islands and the Tanimbar Islands of eastern Indonesia. The current Clements checklist treats it as a distinct species split from Little Bronze-Cuckoo.
Its upperparts are blackish blue with a green gloss, and it has a white patch on the wing.
A 2017 birding account from Yamdena in the Tanimbar Islands records one bird flying across a road while the observers were searching along roadsides. This single sighting does not establish a general preference for roadsides.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
