This flycatcher is common in the western United States. It waits on low perches near water, then flies out to catch insects. Its black body and white belly stand out.
The North American account describes a sooty-black body and a sharply white belly.
It looks for insects from low branches or rocks beside streams, lake shores, estuaries, and beaches. It also occurs near water in towns and around bridges.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
