This tyrant flycatcher occurs widely in South America. It has olive upperparts and bright yellow underparts; a study on Carabajal Island in Argentina found both animal and plant material in stomach samples.
The profile describes a short bill, deep olive upperparts, dark sides of the head, wings, and tail, bright yellow underparts, and two pale wing-bars.
Seven stomachs examined on Carabajal Island, Argentina, contained animal food such as beetles as well as seeds and leaves. Beetles were the most important animal prey in the study.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
